The girls track & field team won the OAA Red/White League Championship Meet last night at Oxford High School. The Lady Dragons accumulated 129 points throughout the evening with Clarkston a distant second with 80 points and Rochester Adams in third with 74 points. This is the third consecutive season that the girls team has finished the league season undefeated and won the league championship meet.
The girls were able to pick up wins in eight different events. Individual event winners included senior Madison Eaton in the 100m and 400m dashes; sophomore Sophie Novak in the 800m and 1600m runs; senior Melissa Symons in the 100m hurdles; and junior Sarah Griffin in the pole vault. Griffin also broke the school record in the long jump with a jump of 17’8.75″. In addition to the individual event winners, the Lady Dragons also won the 4x100m relay and the 4x800m relay.
Over the next week, the girls team will be preparing for next Friday’s MHSAA Regional Championship Meet at Lake Orion High School. This Saturday, the boys and girls teams will be competing at the Fenton 9th and 10th Grade Invitational at Fenton High School.
