Girls Track Team Wins 3rd Consecutive MHSAA Regional Title!

The girls track & field team continued its successful season on Friday by winning its third consecutive MHSAA Region 9 Track & Field Championship. With a score of 119.5 points, the girls were able to outdistance fourteen other teams including second place Grand Blanc with 84 points and third place Clarkston with 67 points.

The meet also determined state qualifiers in each event. The Lady Dragons will be sending a strong contingent to the MHSAA Division 1 State Meet, which will be held at East Kentwood High School on June 1.

The Lake Orion state qualifiers are:— The 4x800m relay consisting of Olivia Ames, Josie Arnold, Allison Sherman and Sophie Novak— The 4x100m relay consisting of Makayla Allen, Alayna Tisch, Shantel Stanley and Melissa Symons— Senior Madison Eaton in the 100m hurdles, 100m dash and 300m hurdles— Senior Melissa Symons in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and 4x100m relay— Junior Sarah Griffin in the pole vault and long jump— Sophomore Sophie Novak in the 1600m run, 800m run and 4x800m relay

Leading up to the state meet, both the girls and boys track teams will compete at the Oakland County Meet at Clarkston High School on Friday, May 24th and at the Freshman County Meet at Milford High School on Saturday, May 25th.
